Stakeholders’ choice for the plum job of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr. Musa Oshodi has secured the ticket of the South-West zone.

He crushed his opponent Mr. Bolaji Yusuf 6-0 in an election held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, in Ibadan.

The election which was conducted by Mr. Peter Nelson, a director of the Sports Ministry was described by stakeholders as the best ever in election history.

Oshodi’s victory did not come as a surprise. Oshodi, who is the chairman of the Oyo State Judo Association was adopted by the six state chairmen in the zone last Saturday in Abeokuta.

Even before his endorsement by the chairmen in the zone, Oshodi had received blessings from stakeholders from different parts of the country.

However, Yusuf who snubbed the chairmen of the zone insisted on contesting.

But he developed cold feet at the zero hours and all the six chairmen cast their ballot for Oshodi.

Ekiti State coach, Morakinyo Akinwale summed up the mood of all the head coaches in the zone.

“We are very excited at the victory of Dr Oshodi at the zonal elections. Now the  South-West zone has credible representation on the board”

“The four years Yusuf spent on that board as the representative of the South West took our zone back by several decades”

Dr. Oshodi dedicated his victory to the coaches and chairmen in the zone.

“The coaches and the chairmen won this battle. They have given me the mandate of the zone and it is a promise, I will never disappoint”.
