Ayo Babes Are New Champions Of JOF U-13 Kids Cup

Ayo Babes from Ajeromi, Lagos were the new champions of the second edition of JOF U-13 Football Cup Tournament.


The final, which was decided on Sunday at the Campos Mini Stadium on Lagos Island, saw Ayo Babes piping their opponents, Junior Arsenal from Alimosho 3-2 in a cracker watched by dignitaries who included the Managing Director of the sponsor company, JOF Nigeria Limited, Mr. Segun Olugboyegun, Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice , Mr Moyosore Onigbajo, and a host of others.


The third place match was decided through penalty shootouts after Prince Boys from Lekki and AZ Zola Babes from Ijegun played 4-4 draw in the regulation time. Prince Boys won the game 6-5 penalties.


For winning the tournament, Ayo Babes were proud winners of the sum of of N300,000, while Junior Arsenal pocketed N200,000. The sum of N150,000 and N100,000 were given to Prince Boys (3rd place) and A Zola (fourth place) respectively.


An elated Managing Director of JOF Nigeria Limited, Olugboyegun applauded the performance of all the teams that took part in the second edition, and gave kudos to the new champions for putting up good fights to the final.


“These boys have showing to us in this competition that they have the skills and talent to be great in football and it won’t be a surprise if the boys we are here watching for free today make it great and we will be paying money to watch them in the future.


“I am so delighted in their performance and this gives us the confidence and happiness that we are adding values to their life,” Olugboyegun said.

For his exemplary performance, Boluwatife Thomas of Ayo Babes won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, Ishola Alimeen of AZ Zola was given the Highest Gola Scorer award after netting 9 goals in the tournament. Goalkeeper award went to Bakare Quymola of Junior Arsenal. Best Behave Team award was given to Young Stars of Lagos Island, who were coached by Adeiyi Wasiu, Best Coach award went to Bankole Abdullahi of AZ Zola.


The final ceremony was spiced with lots of side attractions with foods drinks and confectioneries from partnering companies and support from First Bank Plc, Mabisco Biscuits, Maltina, Nestle Milo, Custodian and Allied Insurance Limited.
