Basketball: Despite Mounting Challenges, Kida Lists Achievements

Coming quickly on the heels of the unimpressive performances of Nigeria’s national male basketball team, D’Tigers during the 3rd and 4th windows of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, the board of Nigeria Basketball Federation, led by Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida has resolved to work harder and intensify efforts aimed at restoring smiles to the faces of millions of Nigerian basketball lovers.
Kida made this assertion while rallying for more concerted support from all stakeholders, sponsors and supporters. He reiterated the unflinching commitment of his board to reposition basketball as a leading sport in Nigeria.
“We understand that the recent games of D’Tigers during the world cup qualifiers haven’t been too impressive, however, we can do better.  The players, officials and members of the NBBF board are not too happy or despondent. Rather, we’re determined to return Nigerian basketball to its enviable pride of place,” the soft-spoken and amiable NBBF boss reiterated.
“We’re on the path of making Nigerian basketball great again. In the coming weeks, there are plans to activate a flurry of basketball activities across the country.
“These include the basketball leagues, training of table officials, grassroots basketball developmental programmes, as well as, other initiatives, aimed at reassuring a better and brighter future for the game in Nigeria,” the multi-awards-winning sports administrator, stated confidently.
