Former Vice Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladeji, has expressed confidence that the newly  appointed Director General of Lagos Sports Commission, Gafar Toyin Bolowotan would turn sports around in the state.

Oladeji, popularly known as Mayor, made this known while reacting to the appointment of Bolowotan Football Club of Ikorodu byb the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In a chat with PM EXPRESS, Oladeji said Bolowotan is a sports loving person and is ready to take sports to the next level. He described Bolowotan as an experienced sports administrator, who knows the challenges facing sports in Lagos.

“Bolowotan is a man of integrity who has what it take to take sports to the next level in the state. When I heard the news of his appointment, I was not surprised because he is capable and he is the best man for the job. The former Director General of the Commission, Babatunde Bank-Anthony did his best and he deserves everybody’s applause. With the coming of Bolowotan, he would continue where his predecessor stopped and I strongly believe that the reign of Bolowotan would bring more fortunes to sports in the state,” he said.

Commenting on what he expects from Bolowotan, Oladeji said he expects the new DG to look into the areas of sports facilities and use his good office to create more mini stadia in the state.

He also advised Bolowotan to focus more on grassroots sports and ensure that Lagos is a grooming centres where athletes would be discovered ahead of international competitions.

The former Chairman of Lagos state MTN Street Soccer urged stakeholders in the state to rally round the new DG and give him necessary support in order to achieve the set goals of Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu’s administration for sports development in Lagos.

In his own comment, a member of Lagos State Football Association, Dotun Coker congratulated Bolowotan for his new appointment as the new DG, adding that his tenure would benefit sports loving people in the state. He described him as a well experienced sports administrator who is ready to give his best for Sports Commission to achieve its set goal.
