Boost for Wheelchair Tennis As Great Summit Club Showers Players With Equipment, Cash In Lagos

Nigeria’s Wheelchair Tennis received a boost on Monday when an organisation, Great Summit Club, donated equipment and cash to the players.
The equipment presented at a ceremony which held at the National Stadium in Surulere were rackets, tennis canvas, tennis balls and tennis shirts.
Aside the equipment, the sum of N10,000 each was given to the top sixteen players in the country(eight men and eight ladies).
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the Great Summit Club, Mr. Johnson Olorunsola said the donation was in fulfillment of one of the objectives of his organisation.
According to him “One of our aims and objectives is to promote and engage in acts of philanthropy in favour of the needy members of society”
“We are donating these sporting equipment to the Nigerian Wheelchair Tennis players to use in order to improve on their game and be more comfortable”.
Mr Olorunsola thanked the Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF for providing his organisation the opportunity to support the players.
He promised that his organisation will continue to support the players as they pursue their dreams.
In his remarks, Head of Wheelchair Tennis Department, Mr. Lateef Shodipo thanked the Great Summit Club for the donation.
He said “The donation today by the Great Summit Club will go a long way in encouraging us to improve on our game.
“We of the Wheelchair Tennis family are indeed very grateful for your kind gesture. “We pray that Almighty God will continue to replenish you as you carry out your noble deeds to help the less privileged”.
Mr Shodipo promised that the Nigerian Wheelchair Tennis players would reciprocate the gesture by improving their performances both at home and abroad.
Earlier in the day, the players thrilled those who graced the occasion during the exhibition games.
In the ladies game, Kafayat Omisore defeated Oluwasegun Oluwakemi 3-2, while Wasiu Yusuf overpowered Akanbi Kazeem 3-2 in the men’s.
The Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Mr. Olabanji Oladapo, who was the special guest, commended members of the Great Summit Club for the donation likewise the Deputy Secretary of PCN, Dr. Sunny Odion who equally thanked them for the good gesture.
