A 15-year old boy has landed in trouble after he allegedly engaged a 10-year old girl in sex romp and they were caught in the act in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Morenike Cavenol Street, Ile-Epo area of Oke-Odo, Lagos, where they reside.

Despite the fact that both the defendant and the victim were minors, the parents of the girl alleged that it was the boy that lured the girl into the act and was culpable for statutory rape.

The matter was reported to the Police at Area G Command, Ogba, Lagos and he was arrested. He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for reportedly having sex with the girl.

The boy denied and pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, asked Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered the boy to be remanded in correctional home and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

The matter was adjourned pending when the DPP’s advice will be ready in order to determine if the boy will be transferred to the High Court to face trial for statutory rape, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before Court for the alleged offence.

The names of both the defendant and the victim were withheld in line with the policy of  P.M.EXPRESS because they are minors.
