Boy, 17, Risks Life Imprisonment Over S*x With Neighbour’s 8-Year Old Girl

P.M.EXPRESS reports that he was arrested after the incident, which happened at Oremerin Street off Baale Bus Stop, Meiran area of Lagos State, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect, Obe, lured the girl into their apartment when nobody was in the house, engaged her in the act and having satisfied himself, he let her go but warned her not to tell anyone.

However, the dastardly act got exposed after the girl told her parents about what happened when they were not around and the matter was reported to the Police in the area. Obe was then arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the conduct.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court.

But when he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in the Juvenile Remand Home and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice since both the defendant and victim are still minors.

The matter was adjourned till 22nd December, 2022, for mention for the DPP’s report to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
