BRT Driver Arrested For Crushing 3 Unknown Persons To Death

A 48-year old BRT driver, Bohan Abiodun, has been arrested for  willfully crushing three unidentified persons to death while operating on the highway in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Abiodun, reportedly murdered the victims on BRT lane along Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway, was arrested by the Police operatives from Oko Odo Division and detained for interrogation.

The Police alleged that Abiodun, being the driver of the BRT bus with registration number, 0102178 drove in a reckless manner and killed the victims and they died on the spot.

When the victims were taken to an undisclosed hospital, the doctors merely certified them dead and their remains taken to the mortuary for autopsy report.

During interrogation, the Police discovered that Abiodun drove in a dangerous manner and killed the victims.He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for murder, which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.

However, his plea was not taken after the prosecutor, Supol Ezekiel Ayorinde, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Hence, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.

He will remain in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if he will be transferred to High Court for the alleged offence.

The identities of the victims were not yet known in order to contact the families for burial. According to Police sources, the corpses may be buried in a cemetery if nobody comes to identify the corpses.
