Business Titan, Mike Adenuga, Spreads Joy At 72

Billionaire tycoon, Dr. Mike Ishola Adenuga Jnr. does not trade in noise. He builds —quietly, consistently, powerfully— bridges between nations, breathes life into economies, and etches his legacy not in the temporary ink of media spin but in the iron permanence of infrastructure, investment, and human impact.

With a fortune of over $6.8 billion, Adenuga lets his businesses do the talking. His approach has gone beyond personal wealth accumulation —his infrastructure investments have catalyzed growth across multiple industries. He always plays by his own rules and actually rules connectivity and crude oil.

His telecom giants, Globacom’s strategic fiber-optic expansions with the development of Glo1 —a 6,100-mile submarine internet cable linking Nigeria to Europe via Ghana and Portugal to improve broadband access in West Africa— keeps Adenuga a central figure in the digital economy, with 12.15% of the market share.

Globacom has equally facilitated thousands of small businesses to scale through improved connectivity, showcasing an ecosystem-driven model of wealth creation. Ditto his oil behemoth, Conoil Producing, which holds six oil blocks in the Niger Delta. Adenuga has built empires rooted in the country’s soil, forging industries that not only create wealth but also provide critical homegrown solutions to the country’s most pressing challenges.

As the Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State-born billionaire is known for his incredible wealth, that’s not for his stupendous but silent generosity. His desire for anonymity is rare in an era when people plaster their names on everything. To him good deeds aren’t about visibility and not a one-time impulse. He believes philanthropy is joy, and he doesn’t want joy in moderation. He has a raft of programs through which he reaches out to people and spreads joy. In fact, for many years, his telecoms company excites the most vulnerable people through various promotions with mouth-watering gifts including houses and choice cars delivered to those who never expected it.

Recently, Adenuga upscale the activities of his Glo Foundation so more people can benefit from his good hearts especially at this period when low-income families struggle with the harsh economic climate and rising cost of living. The foundation distributes packs of food items and other household materials to thousands of women in various communities in Lagos.

On Tuesday April 29, the business icon will clock 72. At such an advancing age, the billionaire continues to break new grounds in divine health, sound mind and peace at heart.

However, at this time of the year —when his birthday approaches—his phenomenal selfless actions are recognized by most admirers and beneficiaries of his good nature who seize the opportunity to extend their heartfelt appreciation with a ton of warm wishes, tributes and accolades. To them, that’s the only route to show appreciation to a global player who touches lives without expecting anything in return.
