A notorious suspected armed robber, Mr Sunday Nwaba has narrated how he posed as a taxi driver and robbed many innocent people in Lagos and its environs.

The suspect was arrested by the operatives of State Anti-Robbery Squad led by CSP Ahmed Sanusi on a tip off. He was paraded among other suspects by the  Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohinmi Edgal at the  Command headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos.

Nwaba revealed that before he became an armed robber, he was a staff of a manufacturing company located at Ikeja before he was laid off with almost nothing to hold on to. He said he managed to buy the car he was driving as taxi but almost got frustrated because he was making little money from the business.
He narrated that his condition changed drastically after a friend told him how he could make more money, by robbing passengers on board or giving information to robbers and getting his own share after the deal.

Nwaba said he tried it and it worked perfectly.  He then had to buy the arms he needed for the job and continued until he was arrested recently. He explained that he robbed alone and in some other cases provided information to other robbers and will got his own share after the operations.

P.M.EXPRESS asked to know his target areas, and Nwaba revealed that he was plying within Lagos especially Ajah and lekki axis and some times outside Lagos depending on the passenger and target at a particular time.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Nwaba met his waterloo after he robbed one of his female victims, Mary Inedu and escaped. Unknown to him, the victim identified him and his cab. She reported the robbery to the police who trailed him and eventually arrested him.

Nwaba said he was still surprised how the victim identified him because he had operated successfully and robbed many victims without any problem. He confessed that he has now realised that it does not pay to commit crime, because one day the police will eventually arrest such suspects.

Police source said Nwaba will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
