Two brothers of the same parents, one a Catholic priest and another a senior pastor at Winners Chapel are engrossed in fierce battle over who among them will inherit their late father’s inheritance.
The fight which started from their base in Enugu metropolitan city has moved into their home town in Umuchu town, Aguata Local government in Anambra State.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that the bone of the contention was the family house which their father built before he died. It was gathered that before their father passed on, the first born in the family died some years before their father’s demise.
It was learnt that the Catholic priest claimed that since he was the second born after the first born died, that he was the real first child in the family and as such the family house belonged to him. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that in line with the Igbo culture, the first son among the children usually took over the family house as the head once their father died.
The one who is a pastor in Winners Chapel insisted that since the priest has been handed over to Catholic church, he had no right to inherit anything in the family.
However, the community is divided over the matter. Some said that after the priest was handed over to the church he has lost every right in the family. But others who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS said that the priest still had certain rights in the family as such he still remained the eldest in the family and should inherit their father’s house.
