The Chairman of leading Nigeria’s sports betting company, Premier Lotto, Sir Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu CON, KJW, FISM, FNIJ, has commended the Caretaker Executive Committee of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Lagos State chapter.

The Caretaker Executive Committee led by Chairman Aaron Akerejola and Secretary Olatutu Oladunni were recently on a courtesy visit to the quintessential businessman at his residence in Lagos.

During the visit, Chief Adebutu, the Oodole -Oodua of the Source, was conferred and decorated with the Fellowship Award of the Lagos SWAN for his laudable contribution to the development of sports in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.

While receiving the award, Baba Ijebu said that he was glad to host the Lagos SWAN Caretaker Executive Committee in his residence, adding that “when you are being celebrated,  commended and appreciated, It simply tells you that you need to do more, you need to improve on the previous achievements, you need to add extra effort to get better.

“Being recognised for positive impacts is indeed an amazing thing, but also a challenge for me to continue to add more value to society, directly and indirectly.

“I can say that I am not the only one who is hardworking, many are more hardworking than I do, but I think it is just the grace and a special privilege from God Almighty.

“All I need to do is to continue to ensure that the legacy lives on.

“I feel extremely fulfilled and happy when I give and when I am able to put smiles on the faces of people around me, especially to the hopeless, vulnerable, and the less privileged because this makes to think about my humble background.”

Chief Adebutu said that he is happy that sports is taken another greater dimension in Nigeria, especially in Lagos State.

“I love Lagos State and I love my country Nigeria.

“I also want to commend our Governor in Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu for his great commitment and outstanding support towards sports development in Lagos State.  This has also enabled many private personalities to invest in sports.

“I want to also appreciate the sports writing family, Lagos SWAN for what the association has been doing over the years, they have been amazing, fantastic and also impressive in their passion and dedication towards sports growth in Lagos and Nigeria. I am happy once again and I pray that SWAN will continue to grow for greater purposes. On my own, I will try by God’s grace to support Lagos SWAN.

“To all Nigerians, please, I enjoin everyone out there to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship. Sports is the unifier, an integrating element, the great weapon that binds the socio-economic wellbeing of any progressive nation,” he said.
