Chief Mrs Obiano Trains 350 Women, Youths On New Skills

Wife of Governor of Anambra State and founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ), Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme), has commenced the training of three hundred and fifty women and youths in various skills under the tenth batch of CAFÉ Skills Acquisition Training Programme.

The programme which commenced on Monday, 4th June, 2018, involved 100 trainees in Tailoring and Fashion Design, 128 persons in Bakery and Confectionery, 63 persons for Hairdressing, 22 for Soap Making, and 15 for Computer repairs, is currently underway at Mary Sumner Vocational Institute, Awka, Anambra State and would run for six weeks.

Speaking Tuesday during inspection of the trainees’ compliance with the programme, Osodieme who was represented by the Special Adviser to Governor on Indigenous Medicine, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, welcomed the participants and told them that they were among the privileged few shortlisted for the tenth batch. He charged them to maximize the opportunity provided by CAFÉ to equip themselves with new skills. He also assured that CAFÉ made adequate arrangement in collaboration with the Institute to give them the best within the period.

Earlier, the Director of Mary Sumner Vocational Institute, Lady Ngozi Ezomike, said that their partnership with CAFÉ in the training of various category of women and youths over the years had been very productive in equipping many of them with new life-sustaining skills. The Director thanked Osodieme for sustaining the Skills Training Programme, assuring that the Institute will continue to meet and surpass her expectations by turning out the best graduands that CAFÉ will be proud of, especially at the end of the six weeks training.

Speaking on behalf of the teachers, the Computer Repairs Trainer, Mr. Eze Uzochukwu, said that they were impressed by the interest and enthusiasm on display by the trainees who have embraced their teachings without hesitation. He commended Chief Mrs. Obiano for her commitment to changing lives through training of many women and youth in new skills and empowering them to be self-reliant. He assured that his Computer Repair trainees who are mainly men will be turned into experts within six weeks.

Responding on behalf of the trainees, Pius Obidimma, a Computer repair trainee, said that he was excited because when he registered for the programme at the Office of Wife of the Governor he never thought that it would happen so soon due to the large number of applications. He thanked Chief Mrs. Obiano for being a caring mother and assured that the participants are ready to learn from the teachers. On her part, one of the trainees on hairdressing, Miss Tina Ogoh, thanked Osodieme for giving them opportunity to acquire new skill and assured that they would not disappoint after the training.
