City Sports School Boss Reveals Plans For 2023

Chief Executive Officer,City Sports School of Lagos, Shola Opaleye, has revealed that there are many programmes lined up for the college in the year 2023.

Opaleye in a chat with Journalists recently said the City Sports School would be busy this year in terms of the activities and urged the parents and guardians to registers their wards/children for the new session.

“We have so many programmes we want to execute this year and we are not focusing on only football, we also develop our students in area of Basketball, Swimming and Athletics. By January 14, we are going to open our seven centres across the state for our students to train.

“Aside opening our centres, we are also planning to send our students abroad on scholarship and if any of our student makes the trials, we can assist the students to sign a contract with the interested clubs,” he said.

The sports administrator further disclosed that City Sports School would also organize an holiday programmes for its students during the Easter festival, Christmas period and summer time in order to keep them busy during their holidays.

He however said arrangement have been concluded by the management to organize a community programmes for the less privileged young footballers who cannot afford to register with the school.

He noted that two community centres would be created in Lagos in each quarter of the year to give room for the young footballers who want to showcase their God given talents.

“In our programmes, every child is important.For those who cannot meet up our demands, we are going to organize community programmes where all these young footballers would have the opportunity to display their skills. What our coaches would do is to develop, mentor and nurture them to stardom. Exceptional players might be considered to be in our college at the end of the day on scholarship,” he said.

Commenting on the City Sports League scheduled to hold in the first quarter of the year,head coach of the school, Bamidele Nurudeen said the league is designed to develop, nurture the the footballers among the students.

He explained that the City Sports League is not only on football, it would cut across other sports such as Basketball, Swimming, Football and athletics.

He said part of what they are doing in the school is to develop and improve the character of the students.

He revealed that 12 league matches would be played among the students in eight centres saying that each champions in each centre would coverge in one place to play state champions to determine the true champions.
