A coalition of Civil Society organizations comprising Ambassadors Of Peace and Enlightenment Foundation (AMPEF) in collaboration with Know Your Rights For Justice (KnoRights), has scored the current APC led administration low in its first year in power.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the group led by the AMPEF President, Comrade Prince Ichie, stated this during the world press conference held in Lagos on the State of the Nation titled: Is Nigeria a failed Nation?
The group expressed their disappointment and concern over the state of the nation, citing insecurity, economic challenges, fuel scarcity, educational failure, collapse of businesses and mismanagement of funds as some of the pressing issues facing the country.

They described the current APC led administration as the worst in Nigeria’s democratic history, stating that it has failed to fulfill its primary purpose of promoting the welfare and security of its citizens.
Comrade Ichie emphasized that the country is facing an existential crisis due to the failure of successive leaders to address the problems of nation-building.
He urged President Tinubu to be truthful about the state of the nation and to take immediate actions to address the suffering of Nigerians.
“President Tinubu should come out and tell Nigerians the true position of things in the country; the country has suffered enough and we need results fast.”
“After a careful study of the state of the nation and a review of the present administrations in the first one year, the current administration emerged the worst in terms of not fulfilling the primary purpose of government, which is promoting the welfare and security of its citizens.”

Ichie described the life of the ordinary citizen as a mess owing to the economic hardship fuelled by high transportation, fuel price hike and exorbitant food items in the market, adding that this has made the country the laughing stock of its neighbours and beyond.
“Nigeria is gradually becoming the permanent invalid ‘Giant of Africa,’ all patriots are ashamed of what is going on in the country as the polity is fast drifting towards its elastic limit.”
Ichie enjoined the Tinubu led government to redouble efforts in turning around the fortunes of the nation, in line with the expectations of the citizenry and his administration’s promises of effective change.
He advised the President to as matter of urgency to dissolve his cabinet and reappoint new people, who will achieve the desired results which he promised when he took over as the President.
He also urged him to redress the issue of foreign currency by focusing and encouraging more on production otherwise the Naira will continue to fluctuate and the price of foreign currencies will continue to be higher.
The conference was attended by Human Rights Group and members of the public, who evaluated President Tinubu’s one year of administration since his inauguration as the 16th President of Nigeria on May 29th, 2023.
Some of the speakers included Comrade Olusegun Adeeko, the President of know Your Right for Justice (KnoRights), summated that Nigeria is a completely failed state, with no good roads, inadequate power supply, food inflation, insecurity, surge in fuel price and has failed her citizens.
Another speaker, Comrade Solomon Neye, emphasized on the basic salary of workers, saying it is slavery for a family to survive on N60,000 monthly salaries because of the rise in cost of food, transportation and other household bills which includes; children’s school fees.

The third speaker, Comrade Daniel Oguine, from CDHR, expressed despondency over Nigeria’s plight. He said the previous government of Muhammadu Buhari failed in his administration and the present government is following suit by instilling further hardship on already suffering Nigerians as Tinubu prioritised his cabinet over the masses.
The 4th Speaker, Comrade John Ezenwan, Lagos Coordinator for AMPEF stated that the value of Naira will remain valueless as Nigerians consume more from importation and not produce for exportation.
Comrade Ichie in his closing remarks encouraged the members of human rights community especially those who are still consistent to continue the struggle. He noted that many Human Rights leaders have sold their conscience and find it difficult to confront the government on sensitive issues on good governance in the country.
