Clearing Agent In Trouble Over Alleged Theft Of Exhibit At Force Hqtrs, In Lagos

A businessman who claimed to be a clearing agent at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos Agu Moneke Justine a.k.a Elele has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly breaking into the locker belonging to DSP Sylvester Aigbe to steal the picture of a suspect and sent same through WhatsApp to one Jeff in China to the prejudice of the suspect.

The accused, a resident of 51 Road, Festac Town, Lagos from Aba, Abia State was arrested by the operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, FCIID, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.

After investigation by DSP Sylvester Aigbe and his team, the accused was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on a three-count charge of breaking into police officer’s locker to take the picture of a suspect from a case file and sent it on the internet without authority.

Police prosecutor, Moruf Animashaun Esq. informed the court in charge Number A/37/2017 that the accused committed the alleged offence on 13 April, 2017 at the FCIID Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Animashaun told the court that the accused reported a case against a suspect and while the investigation was going on, the accused cleverly broke into the locker of DSP Sylvester Aigbe investigating the matter and removed the picture of the suspect from the case file and sent same through WhatsApp application to one Jeff with phone number +8613535279284 in China to the prejudiced of the suspect

He said the police discover the act perpetrated by the accused on the internet and arrested him.

Animashaun said the offences the accused committed are punishable under Section 287 (3), 57 (1) (A) and 168 (A) (1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused however pleaded not guilty of the alleged crime in the open court.

Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O.O Oshin admitted him on bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oshin adjourned the case till 12 July 2017 for trial while the defendant was ordered remanded in Ikoyi Prison, Lagos pending when he his able to fulfill his bail condition.
