A coalition of youth organisations in the 19 Northern States, under the aegies of Northern Youth Assembly, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to disregard sustained media attacks by faceless groups on the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu and reinstate her to office, saying vulnerable Nigerians especially from the Northern Nigeria need her humanitarian touch.

In a Communique issued at the end of their quarterly meeting in Kaduna at the weekend, the Northern Youth Assembly commended Tinubu for his fight against corruption and economic crimes.

The group, while appealing to Nigerians to be patient in order to reap from the tough but positive and futuristic economic policies of the Tinubu administration, urged him to be wary of undesirable elements masquerading as youth and civil society organisations engaged in a campaign of calumny against Dr Edu.

According to the Youth Assembly, enemies of Nigerians who do not want the President to succeed in his avowed task of eradicating poverty in Nigeria are behind the faceless groups.

While urging the President to reinstate Dr Edu to continue the implementation of the Social intervention schemes ,Poverty Alleviation and humanitarian blueprint of the Renewed Hope Agenda, the Northern Youths described the suspended Minister “as the poster girl of achievements who visibly was implementing, religiously, the poverty eradication segment of the Renewed Hope Agenda”.

The communique signed by Chairman of the group, Danjuma Tijani and Secretary, Edward Yang, insisted that “during the short active time Dr Edu Edu heldsway at the Humanitarian Affairs Ministry, vulnerable Nigerians, especially those in the North were positively impacted, and enjoyed a new lease of life”.

“We, the Assembly of Northern Youths, comprising youth organisations in the 19 states of the North, have the mandate of our people to plead with Mr. President not to allow reactionary forces, enemies of progressive Nigeria and enemies of his people orientated government to sway him.”

“We urge our amiable President to put these enemies of the country to shame by reinstating Dr Edu to office as she has not been indicted, tried or convicted for any financial malfeasance. Six months down the line, she is still rated to have offered more services to Nigerians than 87% of other Ministers “, the communique read.
