Community Leader Arraigned Over Alleged Defrauding Oil Company

A community leader in Lagos State, Alhaji Akeem Ajibola Shuaibu, 55 has been arraigned before a Lagos magistrate court for allegedly obtaining 10,000 litres of diesel valued at N2.1 million under false pretense from management of Pen Global Oil & Gas Services Limited.

Shuaibu was arrested by the operatives of Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, FCIID, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos and after investigation by Inspector Osaduwa  William and his team, Shuaibu was arraigned before an Igbosere magistrate court, Lagos on a three count charge of felony to wit: stealing and issuance of dud cheque.

Police prosecutor, Moruf Animashaun Esq. informed the court in charge No A/25/2017 that the accused committed the alleged offense on 11 July, 2016 at No. 3 Marina Road, Apapa, Lagos.

Animashaun told the court that the accused obtained 10,000 litres of diesel valued at N2.1million from the management of Pen Global Oil & Gas Services Limited with the pretext to sell and remit the proceeds to them but that after the accused sold the diesel, he converted the proceeds to personal use.

He said the accused, with the pretext of paying back the money to the complainant, issued an Access Bank Plc cheque No. 044172428 valued at N1,350,000.00 to the company but when the cheque was presented for payment, it was dishonoured due to lack of fund in the account.

Animashaun said the offenses the accused committed are punishable under sections 314(3), 287(5)(b) and 315(1)(16) of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The accused however denied the police allegations in the open court and chief magistrate Mrs. O. O. Oshin admitted him on bail in the sum of N500,000.00 with one surety in like sum.

Oshin adjourned the case till 22 May, 2017 for mention.
