Company Driver, 47, Docked For Stealing & Selling N15m Truck

A 47-year old company truck driver,  Sulaiman Hamisu, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly conspiring, stealing the N15m truck entrusted in his care and bolting away with the money. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos.
The driver allegedly conspired with others now at large and stole the truck with registration number, FST 411XX, belonging to Smart Transit Logistics & Services Limited.
According to Police, after he sold the truck, he escaped, went into hiding and disconnected every communication to trace him by the company.
When the matter was reported to the Police, the operatives moved into action and eventually arrested him. But the Police did not recover the truck as he claimed to have sold the truck to an undisclosed buyer.
The Police found him culpable after rounds of interrogation and consequently charged him before the Ajegunle Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector O.M. Anim, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. T.B. Are, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
