Company’s Female Credit Officer, 32, Sent To Prison For Giving Self N2.3m Loan

A 32-year old female company’s credit officer, Blessing Odukoya Ige, has landed in trouble for allegedly giving herself N2.308m loan without approval from the management of the company in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that she has been arrested and charged for the alleged criminal conversion of the money.
The incident happened at Credit Resources Company located at Igando area of Lagos, where Blessing Ige was employed as a credit officer.
The suspect, Blessing, landed in trouble after the company conducted an internal audit, discovered that the money was missing and she was summoned to explain what happened.
During interrogation, Blessing claimed that while she was giving out loan to people between 2020 and 2021, she also gave herself loan but was unable to refund the money before the company discovered.
The matter was reported to the Police at Area M Command, Idimu, Lagos and she was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her conduct. And having been found culpable, she was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
Now Blessing Ige risks several years of imprisonment if she is found guilty before Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.
However, she pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 12th February, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
