Confusion As Estate Agent, 54, Rents Out One Apartment To 4 Tenants

There was confusion at the Oshodi area of Lagos after a 54-year old estate agent, Michael Adewunmi, allegedly rented out a two bedroom flat to four tenants and bolted away with their money running into millions of Naira. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports the incident happened at Alimi-Oke Street, Oshodi area of Lagos, where the building is located.
The tenants, who rented the apartment, moved in almost at the same time and struggled to take possession having realized that the agent, Adewunmi, had obtained money from them for same apartment.
The suspect, Adewunmi, has been arrested for obtaining money under false pretence, which turned to be scam.
The Police alleged that the suspect,  Adewunmi, defrauded the following victims: Peace Frank, Nnamdi Ani, Ugwuoke Chibuike and Uzuegbu Christian, and went into hiding for several months until he was recently tracked and arrested by the Police.
During interrogation, Adewunmi admitted to have rented out the apartment and had as well spent the money and will not be able to refund the tenants.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, asked the Court to give a short adjournment since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate,  Mr. J.A. Adegun, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 21st October, 2022, for mention while the defendant was remanded in correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
