Council Chairman, Comrade Dauda Receives NULGE Ikeja Chapter

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Thursday, 28th August 2025, received the executive members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ikeja Chapter, in his office.

 

The visit marked the Union’s first official engagement with the Chairman since his assumption of office.

 

The delegation, led by the Chapter President, Comrade Michael Emiabata, expressed solidarity with the Chairman, describing him as “one of their own” in the struggle for workers’ rights. They assured him of their full cooperation and presented their requests, which centered on improved welfare for members and sustaining a cordial working relationship with the council leadership.

The NULGE executives further commended Council Chairman, Dauda, for his proactiveness and inclusive leadership style within his first 30 days in office. They affirmed that his early actions demonstrate readiness to reposition Ikeja Local Government for greater progress.

 

In his remarks, Comrade Akeem Dauda thanked the Union for its commitment to prioritizing workers’ welfare and for diligently carrying out their statutory duties.

He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to service delivery and promised to ensure that the people of Ikeja fully enjoy the dividends of democracy. He called on staff to give their maximum cooperation, stressing that the success of his administration requires the collective effort of all stakeholders.

The meeting further underscored the strong bond between the Executive and the workforce, a partnership that signals brighter days ahead for Ikeja Local Government.
