Couple Arrested For Starving Daughter, 5, As Directed By Pastor Over Witchcraft

Officials of the Anambra State Government have apprehended a couple for allegedly starving their 5-year old daughter after they received a prophecy from their Pastor that the victim the witch that destroyed her father’s business. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that already the victim’s mother, Mrs. Blessing Wosu, has confessed to the crime and said that she was obeying her Pastor’s prophecy that her five-year old daughter was a witch who did not deserve to live.
“It was our Pastor, who gave us a prophecy that she was a witch and did not deserve to live. We were told that she was responsible for her father’s downfall in business.”
Mrs. Wosu further stated that she made her daughter sleep on a plank due to her constant pooing and peeing on her body.
This was disclosed by Mrs. Ify Obinabo, State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, who confirmed the arrest on Thursday.
She stated that the couple was arrested at Adazi-Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.
Mrs. Obinabo said that she intervened in the case following reports from the Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha LGA, Mr. Gerald Ozoh and the State Coordinator of Ladies of Good Governance, Mrs Chinwe Uba.
She noted that her primary assignment was to protect the rights of every child in the state and assured that she would not let the accused go free.
“The girl is receiving treatment at the hospital while her parents would be handed over to the Police for further investigation,” she added.
The couple may likely be charged before Court for the alleged offence but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
