Court Hands Widow, 36, Jail Term For Brutalizing Househelp

A Magistrate Court, sitting in Akure, Ondo State, has sentenced a woman, Omoyeni Opeyemi, to three and half years imprisonment for brutalizing her househelp, a twelve year old boy, Joel Sunday.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 36-year old widow was arraigned before the Court on a five count charge, which bothers on attempted murder, child abuse, and violence against person prohibition among others.

When she was arraigned in Court, she pleaded not guilty.

Delivering judgement, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Edwin, said that the defendant was guilty of counts one, four and five, as she, thereafter, struck out count four.

The widow was arrested by the operatives of the State Police Command after she used sticks and razor blades to inflict multiple injuries on the body of the househelp at Adebowale area of Akure, Ondo State.

A video, which went viral, also showed the 12-year old househelp crying with marks on his body, which indicated that his body was lacerated with a razor blade while blood was on his body.
