A lady, Miss Rhoda Adu, has landed in trouble after she collected N3,000 from her boyfriend, Olapitan Sola, for transportation to visit him but failed to do so in Ilesa, Osun State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the angry lover reported her to the Police. She was then arrested and charged before the Court for the alleged breach of trust and fraud.

A Magistrate Court in Ilesa, Osun State, found Miss Rhoda Adu guilty and ordered her to pay N150,000 as damages to her boyfriend, Olapitan Sola, for failing to visit after she had collected N3,000 for transportation to do so.

The lady,  Ms Rhoda, was said to have switched off her phone and failed to show up after Mr. Olapitan sent her transport fare to visit him and caused him emotional trauma.

When the complainant was unable to reach Ms Adu after sending her transport fare, he felt defrauded and emotionally distressed and so he reported the incident to the Ayeso Police Station.

Thus, Ms Rhoda was thereafter arrested and charged before the Court for the alleged fraud and breach of trust. During the trial, the complainant provided  evidence before the Court including  the N3,000 transfer and WhatsApp messages between him and Ms Adu.

The Presiding Magistrate, Akogun Oludare, ruled and ordered that Ms Adu must refund the N3,000 transport fare, pay N100,000 for breaching their agreement, and an additional N50,000 as special damages for causing Mr. Olapitan emotional distress.

The Court noted that the ruling was intended to deter others from committing similar offences in future and it was not confirmed if Ms Adu has complied with the judgement or not.
