Covid-19: Greatest Threat To Humanity
COMRADE VINCENT EZEKWUEME

It is no longer news and new that Coronavirus pandemic started late last year in Wuhan China. Unfortunately and most painful Covid-19 pandemic has done and still doing devastating and horrendous havoc to the global community.
It has affected the health, wealth, economies, education, spiritual, social and political life of humanity globally. Worthy of note is that this is the first time in the history of the world that both economic, religious, social, educational and all sphere of life were locked down due to Covid-19 Nigeria inclusive.
The sacredness and sanctity of human life must be preserved, protected and safeguarded which is the primary responsibility of both the Government and the governed hence the inevitable need for us not to spare any effort towards its accomplishments.
It is with outrageous disbelief that some Nigerians still doubt the existence of the pandemic ravaging the global community. It is no exaggeration that it has killed and still killing many people globally. Only yesterday, according to Nigeria Center For Disease Control more than 500 citizens contracted the virus.
CLO has played and will continue to play very vital and invaluable roles towards efforts to forestall escalation of Coronavirus pandemic.Unfortunately some misguided and ignorant citizens still doubt the existence of the deadly and dreadful virus. It is incumbent on us to successfully wage the war against the virus. Pertinently, it is ineluctable and inexorable to properly and adequately educate, inform and enlighten our members on the dangers of Coronavirus to be in a better position to teach and educate the citizenry. It is of great relevance to note that Covid-19 is the greatest threat and enemy of humanity.
Significantly, health is wealth, a healthy nation breeds a wealthy, prosperous and progressive nation. Worthy of note is that wealth without health is living in a state of languor and hopeless. It is of prime importance to note that incessant and ubiquitous daily escalation of Coronavirus pandemic is of great concern and worry to both government and citizenry that concerted efforts should be made to ensure stoppage of the increments of Coronavirus index cases. The health challenges posed by despicable and pathetic Covid-19 call for marshal plan by both government, Medical experts, Civil Society Organizations and citizenry. CLO and other Civil Society Organisations should be watchdog towards ensuring enforcement of government and experts directives on strict observation Of Covid-19 prevention protocol.
Worthy of note is that regular hand washing with soap, use of alcoholic based sanitisers, social and physical distancing must be absolutely observed. We have a great task and duty to politely and gently educate and reorientate those observing Covid-19 prevention protocols in breach due to ignorance because this is great obstacle and impediment towards eradication of the pandemic.
It will be very unfortunate and pathetic if the virus is not controlled because the future just like the present will be very bleak and regrettable. All hands must be on deck; remember you only live once, if you are right once is enough. Let us accept the existential reality that Covid-19 is not only real but greatest threat to humanity. We must assiduously, patriotically and collectively work towards its extermination of it will terminate us which God forbid.
Finally, I most passionately appeal to our distinguished and respected striking Medical Doctors to remember Hippocratic Oath to save and protect lives for interest of hapless patients and humanity. Government should engage them in sincere dialogue and negotiations to ensure industrial harmony and peace. Significant payment for their agreed hazardous allowances and other entitlements will motivate and encourage them to urgently resume their very sensitive work. I end with wise and timeless assertion of Bishop Hassan Mathew Kukah, “we rejoice not because we do not have problems, but we rejoice because God is with us. We are stronger and greater than our problems. With God on our side and with strict adherence to Coronavirus prevention protocols, we will certainly outlive Covid-19 pandemic.
