Cowrie Rugby Football Club emerged champions of the men’s competition at the 2026 Racing 10s Rugby Tournament after defeating a strong field of clubs at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The annual tournament, organised by Racing Rugby Football Club, once again showcased some of Nigeria’s top rugby talent, providing a platform for player development, promoting grassroots rugby, and strengthening the domestic game.

Cowrie RFC finished ahead of Racing RFC, who settled for second place, while Ibudo Academy claimed third position in the men’s category.

In the women’s competition, Ibudo Academy produced a dominant display to lift the title, with Golden Shark RFC finishing as runners-up and AJ Sharks RFC taking third place.

The junior event also featured four academies—Racing Academy (U-13 and U-15), Golden Sharks Academy (U-15), Ibudo Academy (U-13 and U-15), and Wolverine Academy (U-13 and U-15)—highlighting the tournament’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of rugby stars.

Individual excellence was equally recognised, with Okore Chisom Victoria of Golden Shark RFC named the Women’s Most Valuable Player, while Oguntominiyi Temidayo Kingsley of Racing RFC won the Men’s Most Valuable Player award.

The successful staging of this year’s tournament further underscored the steady growth of rugby in Nigeria, with the Racing 10s continuing to provide a vital platform for competition, talent discovery and the development of the sport nationwide.
