Cross River State Commissioner for Aviation Jake Otu-Enyia  and some members of staff of the ministry on Thursday protested at a new generation bank in Calabar for disallowing the ministry from withdrawing money from the bank since last week.

According to Enyia, “We have been here since last week trying to withdraw our money from this bank. They keep telling us come tomorrow and all that.

“We took this action because we need the money for the servicing of our aircraft (Cally Air fleet) and to complete the renewal of our insurance, other wise our aircraft will be grounded.”

He said that the ministry was not asking for loan, adding, “we came to withdraw our money and nobody is telling us why we cannot withdraw our money.”The Commissioner said the state government had an account with the bank from where Cally Air was funded and wondered why the bank suddenly started playing double standard.”We are not going to allow anybody to come out of the Bank until our money is paid. We are not going anywhere and nobody is going home today,” he vowed. The gate of the bank along Calabar Road was blocked by the Aviation ministry workers for several hours while officials of the bank declined to speak on the issue.
