C’River Governor, Otu Commends Adelabu, Says He’s Taking Bold Steps In Power Sector

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu has commended the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu for the bold steps he is taking in the power sector.

The Governor made the remarks on Tuesday during a visit to the Minister in his Power House office, Abuja.

According to the Governor, the visit was to, “salute the Honourable Minister in the bold Strides he is taking in the power sector”, adding that the power sector is critical to national development.

Addressing the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Mahmuda Mamman and Directors of the Ministry, he enjoined them to continue to offer support to Adelabu in order to sustain the noticeable improvements in the sector adding that Cross River State had taken steps to protect power infrastructure in the State with the introduction of drones.

Responding, the Minister called for the continued support of the Governor and his colleagues in the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) in view of the ongoing reforms in the sector which spelt out more responsibilities for the States in the Electricity Act 2023.

Adelabu also called on the Governor to help in the protection of Power infrastructure in his State and also intervene in conflicts that could occur on issues of right of way.
