Four years after they parted ways over financial squabbles, Afro-pop star Davido has reconnected with his sacked and first ever manager in the music industry, Asa Asika.

This latest development came after two weeks of a one-sided drama played out online over the resignation of Davido‘s former manager, Kamal Ajiboye.

Kamal Ajiboye became Davido’s manager in 2013, but the contract was terminated last week after claims revolving around spiritual influence on the singer.

“I am my own manager 2017, don’t put your ur life for another man hand,” Davido shared on Snapchat.

Davido and Asa parted ways back in December 2012 over financial disputes and other undisclosed reasons.

The deal that brought back Asa as Davido’s new manager was signed and sealed on 30 January, 2017, as the Davido’s Hypeman Special took to his Snapchat to share pictures and videos while Davido tweeted, welcoming Asa back to the team.

Official statement from Davido’s camp reads:

‘Following the resignation of his erstwhile manager ‘Kamal Ajiboye’, Davido has signed a new management deal with Asa Asika under his new outfit ‘The Plug’ co-owned by Bizzle Osikoya.

“Davido made the decision after carefully scrutinizing & weighing all options. Asa Asika returns after 4 years which saw Kamal Ajiboye manage the affairs of Davido until now.

“The Plug Entertainment would from now on handle all bookings & management affairs for Davido.

“We Welcome Asa Asika & The entire ‘The Plug Entertainment’ team on board.

“Davido becomes the second client under the Plug’s management, as he joins DJ Obi.

Asa, it was said the one who started HKN with Davido, and helped with his first few singles.

Asa, who has managed other artistes including Ayo Jay, DRB Lasgidi and BOJ in the past, is now back as Davido’s manager.

He’s also a cousin of rapper, Naeto C who was the first major artiste to collaborate with Davido back in 2011 on ‘Back When’.
