A drama was witnessed on Monday morning at Apo, Abuja when the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC),  Wobin Ayuba Gora and his team arrested a driver, Chimezie Orji, and handcuffed him after breaking the traffic rules when he was trying to escape from the law.

According to Gora, Orji stopped his car at the middle of the road for a passenger to come down and after the passenger came down, he refused to move his car from obstructing the flow of traffic instead, he was calling for more passengers to enter his car.

The personal driver to the Sector Commander asked Orji to remove his car from the road, but Orji snubbed and ignored him. With this ugly  behaviour, his own orderly had to enter Orji’s car and asked him to clear from the road. Suddenly, the unthinkable happened. Orji started the car and drove off on a very high speed.

The officers had to pursue Orji dragging the steering with him in the process in what looks like a movie scene causing commotion on the road, as other motorists drove away  to avoid an accident. Eventually, Orji had to stop by marching the break.  The car skidded on the road for about 100metres before it came to a halt. Orji immediately came out with a cutlass and raised it high to hit the  Orderly , who also had come out from Orji’s car.

Fortunately, the Sector  Commander and his driver got to the scene before Orji could inflict any harm on the Orderly. Some people at Apo also witnessed the ugly incident. Orji was arrested, handcuffed and subsequently handed over to the Police.

Orji , who looked sober after his arrest said that he parked to pick a passenger when the FRSC officer rushed into his car and told him that he was under arrest for wrong parking,  and he had to drive off in annoyance. He confirmed to PM EXPRESS that he had a scuffle with the FRSC officer when he was struggling with the steering with him, before he stopped his car after which they arrested him.

He further admitted that he had a cutlass in his car for self defence because of the menace of touts (Agberos) in Abuja. According to Orji, he brought out the cutlass for self defence against the FRSC officers. He never intended to hit him with the cutlass.

PM EXPRESS  gathered that Orji will be making his defence with the law enforcement officers and the judiciary when his case comes up in court on July 31 in Abuja.
