A movement, known as Drop That Gun (DTG) initiatives, has written an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu seeking for N2b loan for campaign focusing on unity and the potential for a regeneration, transformation, and rebirth for Nigerian youths.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was contained in a press statement made by their group’s Chief Strategist, DTG Project Ltd., Mr. Modestus Bernard, during a press conference held in Lagos.
The Drop That Gun (DTG) initiative highlights the need for support from governments, individuals, and the private sector in Nigeria to reform talents often wasted and turned into criminal activities.
The DTG initiative is incorporating powerful dancers as ambassadors to begin the DTG Unity Dance Competition and young talents for the Unity Challenge Fashion Exercise in a bid to flag off a nationwide campaign.
The campaign aims to build a Nigeria, where there is peace and love between all ethnic groups, encourage talents, and eliminate tribalism and religious sentiments. The goal is to create a Nigeria that encourages talented youths for a better future.
The campaign has been in incubation since 2021 and has been presented to the EFCC for scrutiny with assurances that if the Federal Government invests in the project, the empowerment of youths will be done in transparency. However, in this context, politics have influenced the project’s success; there are also issues of tribalism and religious sentiments. The nationwide campaign aims to make it known that promoting unity rather than interfering with unity is a noteworthy virtue which is in accordance with the mission and vision for the DTG initiative.
The group noted during the press conference themed: Unity, Youth Empowerment & Making Crime Unattractive is achievable through DTG project and described unity as the The Real Oil” Campaign through youth Empowerment, Job Creation Models, Fashion, Entertainment & Creativity as Alternatives to Crime.
The lead Speaker, Mr. Bernard, explained that the project is not a political event.
“It is a call to conscience and national unity.”
Part of the letter to the president stated with the caption:
“65 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE: A TURNING POINT FOR NATIONAL UNITY – THE REAL OIL “
“I wrote to you some months ago requesting a N2B loan to launch a social enterprise called DROP THAT GUN PROJECT (DTG)-a vision designed to promote unity among Nigerians, create employment and empower opportunities for millions of youths while rendering crime unattractive.”
“Sadly, there was no response, which I believe means this urgent message of UNITY never reached your desk.”
“Sir, I am a struggling but determined Nigerian. Despite my humble means, I refuse to give up because I see the urgent need for a national rebirth, that is why I have now officially launched the Drop That Gun Project with the DTG Fashion Challenge a movement combining fashion, entertainment, and media to make Unity the pillar of Nigeria’s future.”
“Our goal is simple but powerful: to ensure Nigerians not only embrace Unity in spirit, but also wear it on their bodies and in their hearts.
The Shame and The Truth:
Sixty-five years after Independence, Nigeria remains divided along ethnic, religious, and political lines. This disunity led to civil war, and decades later it continues to cripple our progress.
Disunity is not just one of Nigeria’s problems-it is the basket holding all our problems. Unity is the basket holding all the solutions.
Nigeria was formed to be a giant-a diverse but united leader of the black race. Instead, tribalism and division have weakened our foundation. No nation divided against itself can stand.
The Problem We Face:
Insecurity: Nigerians kill and harm themselves because unity Is absent.
Poverty & Hunger: Millions of youths are idle and desperate. Most Nigerians are more certain of the days they will go hungry than the days they will eat.
Hopelessness: Abandoned youths, stripped of opportunities, drift into fraud, banditry, and terrorism- not by choice, but by circumstance.
The solution: Investing in Unity challenges:
Unity is the cheapest, strongest, and most sustainable solution to Nigeria’s challenges.
The Drop That Gun Project will:
1. Promote Unity among Nigerians
2. Engage and empower youths with jobs and opportunity
3. Render crime unattractive by channeling talent into creativity.
We project that before Nigeria marks its 66th Independence, these three goals will be actively achieved “
Your Role, Mr President:
Sir, I humbly propose that the 65th Independence Day celebration be centered on unity.
Unity is more valuable than oil, yet it requires little or no money-only promote it, and discourage those who work against it.
Dedicated leadership. This is the time to create new policies to protect unity,
Leading by Example -A Personal Sacrifice:
Permit use to speak plainly, MR. President. Your current official dress style, always reflecting one section of the country, unconsciously portrays you more as a tribal leader than as the Father of the Nation.
Fashion is not trivial-it is language. As Miuccia Prada said, “Fashion is an instant language.”
At a recent event in Paris with President Macron, you dressed in a simple blue suit. Nigerians applauded because you looked not just fashionable, but truly Presidential. That single image sent a message stronger than a thousand speeches.
If you deliberately adopt Unity-inspired attires sometimes wearing the cultural clothes of different tribes, sometimes appearing in modern presidential suits-you will rewrite your political story. You will be seen not just as the President of Nigeria, but as the Leader of Unity in Africa. This alone could hand you a historic legacy and even secure victory in 2027.
DTC Fashion Challenge: Dressing for Unity
We have designed Unity-inspired fashion for Nigerians to wear, provoking awareness and consciousness of Unity.
In 12 months, 1 million Nigerians and global supporters wearing DTG will generate over N30 billion turnover.
in 24 months, 10 million people worldwide on DTG gear will produce N450B turnover.
This is not just fashion it is an
fashion. Modeling, media. marketina transoorttion and mere
“conomy. It will create thousands of jots in
This is Unity-Made in Nigeria, For Nigerians, By Nigerians.”
Guaranteeing Trust and Transparency:
Sir, with your approval, I propose that the EFCC Chairman serve as watchdog partners, and sponsors that everything is transparent. This oversight will assure Nigerians.”
Why This Matters Now:
Unity is the greatest wealth of a nation. Our oil may run dry, but unity will sustain us forever.
Your administration can be remembered as the one that turned:
Unity into strength, Crime into creativity, Despair into dignity, Poverty into
prosperity.
Personal Request:
Sir, I respectfully request an audience with you to present this strategy in person-andteed to share personal advice that can strengthen your political. journey.
I believe this model holds the key to youth support, massive national healing. and your historic victory in 2027.
Nigeria does not lack talent. Nigeria lacks unity and opportunity. DTG provides both.
Let us refine Unity.”It stated
DTG Women of Peace, Mrs. Omolara Faboyede, noted that Nigerians are faced with challenges such as hunger, unemployment, and crime. However, unity is seen as the real oil, as it creates jobs, inspires creativity, and makes crime unattractive. She noted that everyone, including celebrities, musicians, actors, comedians, athletes, and media personalities, is an influencer. “Celebrities must rise to promote unity, creativity, and hope and help champion a society where disunity and crime are not glorified but relegated to the floor. ” She stated.

Mrs. Emasa Onome Beauty, a young mother raising her son, Vigour, lent her voice against the increasing number of Nigerian youths being arrested, prosecuted, and imprisoned for financial crimes. She believes that prevention is better than cure and that arrest and prosecution cannot solve the crisis alone. In her speech, she noted that the ‘Drop That Gun Project’, a social enterprise, aims to promote unity among Nigerians, create jobs and empowerment for millions of youths, and also make crime unattractive by giving dignity and income through creativity
Emasa expressed optimism that in 12 months, one million people will wear DTG merchandise, turning over 30 billion Naira in business, and in 24 months, ten million people worldwide will join the DTG Peace Challenge, turning over 450 billion Naira.
Emasa emphasised that the EFCC must be involved in this project to ensure transparency, endorsement, and partnership with the DTG Team.
She urged the press to convey the DTG initiative to the EFCC Chairman, stating that Nigerian mothers are watching and that prevention is better than prosecution.
