E-Marketing Is Essential For MSMEs Growth – Commissioner

The Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr. (Mrs) Lola Akande, has described the use of electronic commerce as essential for the growth and prosperity of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Akande stated this when she received the representatives of Brand Tell Nigeria on a courtesy visit to the Ministry on Friday, noting that e-commerce, particularly through social media marketing platforms, has become a very important tool for MSMEs to increase their reach, expand their market base and increase their profit.

She said, “I want to commend Brand Tell Nigeria for the visit and the initiative to empower your members through training in digital skills. It is imperative for businesses to harness the benefits of digital platforms. Your efforts at providing such will help expand the number of MSMEs who can leverage technology to boost their businesses.

The Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Adetutu Oluremi Ososanya, FCA, called for collaboration with BTN and its participation at its annual MSMEs Exclusive Fair and Exhibition, adding that the Ministry will encourage the Group in its efforts to develop a Products Hub to ensure valuable results.

In their contributions, the Heads of Departments in the Ministry, spoke about their Departments’ responsibilities in terms of production, packaging, business facilitation, trade promotion and support services that are provided to boost MSMEs in the State.

The Leader of Brand Tell Nigeria, Adenike Fagbemi remarked that BTN is a community of small and medium enterprises that teaches business owners how to maximise the use of media platforms and Social media for their benefit.

According to her, the Group is all-encompassing and not restricted to Lagos alone, and it is prepared to work, hand in glove, with the Ministry to increase the fortune of MSMEs.
