Nigerian US based football coach, Anthony Ushurhe says there is no reason Super Eagles would drop a point against lowly rated Central Africa Republic CAR when both countries clash in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

Nigeria will face CAR in a group C double-header in the World Cup qualifiers. The first leg will be played in Lagos on October 7 while the return-leg will hold in Douala three days later.

Ushurhe in a statement copied our correspondent said having watched the two matches of Eagles against Liberia and Cape Verde, the three time Africa champions stand the better chance to beat CAR both home and away game.

“Nigeria cannot afford to drop a point against CAR. We have done well in our two matches and I see them beating the CAR home and away match. I know it is not going to be an easy match because CAR want to cause an upset but with the calibre of players in the Eagles now, I see Nigeria top the table and qualify for the final phase of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers,” he said.

The former coach of Messiah FC said the only way Eagles can drop or lose against CAR is that if they underrate their opponents. He said there is no minor in Africa football any longer and advised the Eagles coaching crew led by Genot Rohr to approach the game with all seriousness.

“It would be a greatest shock of the world if Eagles suffer defeat against CAR in the qualifying match. For me, if we don’t prepare well we can suffer defeat because every country wants to go to World Cup. My advice for Rohr is to tell his boys to respect their opponents and handle them with seriousness to avoid any upset in the group,” he said.
