Ekwulobia: If Not Now, When?

Posted on June 22, 2023

Ekwulobia is a metaphor for human confusion, what pidgin English speakers refer to as, “nobody wan die but dem wan go heaven”. Heaven is a beautiful place to be, I believe this is why God has made death a mystery. However, to truly know how beautiful heaven is, one must surely pay the ultimate price — willfully or by compulsion.

This is what Ekwulobia is experiencing today under the Soludo Administration. This old shanty town called Ekwulobia, the headquarters of old and “new” Aguata must die. Ekwulobia is a gateway city with loads of human and natural blessings suffocating into obsolescence because we fear giving new ways a chance? No na, we can and should do better.

If an Aguata Son cannot fix the decrepit Ekwulobia to a modern urban settlement, it may never happen again in this generation and may cost more in the future. This process is painful. However, joy will certainly come in the morning.
