Enugu: Stop Intimidating Party Members That Sacked You – Group Tells Nwoye

Posted on August 14, 2021

A group, known as Enugu APC Bridge Builders, has cautioned the sacked APC Caretaker Chairman, Ben Nwoye, against harassing or intimidating party members, who jointly removed him as Party Chairman.

The group made this known in a statement which was released to journalists Saturday morning.

The statement noted how Nwoye, having lost out in the battle for supremacy over the party’s affairs, had resorted to bribing them with offers ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of Naira, just to sway these party men. When these offers fell flat, the group alleged that Nwoye had resorted to threats and thus they as stakeholders in Enugu APC would no longer sit down and watch these party members suffer any form of harassment just because they had remained resolute.

The group also stated that they are prepared to petition the Presidency, the National Secretariat, DG DSS and the IG of the Nigeria Police, should Nwoye continue to threaten innocent people with attacks as that would be taking Enugu politics back to the dark days.

“We, as members of the Enugu APC Bridge Builders, with membership spanning all over the state, condemn in all ramifications the recent resort to threats against party members by the sacked Enugu State APC Caretaker Chairman, Chief Ben Nwoye.”

“We, as witnesses to the sacking of Nwoye, were shocked when following his failure to sway party members with money bribes, now resorted to making violent threats against the party members that sacked him.” “We have in evidence phone calls and receipts of messages where Nwoye promised to decisively deal with these party members owing to the fact that they have stood resolutely that he remained sacked as Party Caretaker Chairman.”
“We ask, why must Nwoye resort to violence? Why not go to Court? Why is he resorting to lawlessness as he did last two weeks when he swore in fake Ward Executives?”

“We are thus in solidarity with the leadership of Prince Chikwado Chukwunta Nnaji as the substantive Acting Caretaker Chairman of Enugu APC and urge the 42 members of the State Executive Committee, who removed Nwoye, to remain focused as Enugu APC must move forward.”

“We are also by this medium calling on stakeholders in the party and in Enugu State to call Nwoye to order as we are also considering doing a petition to the Presidency, the National Chairman of the CECPC, DG DSS and the IG of the Nigeria Police Force to hold Nwoye accountable if anything happens to these members.”
