Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State Branch, has made passionate appeal to the Federal and Anambra State Governments to urgently commence emergency intervention and palliative works on a section of Onitsha -Owerri Federal Road leading to Rojenny Tourist Village, Oba town in the State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that about 400 buildings, including the massive Rojenny Sports Village, are on the verge of caving into the breathtaking Oba gully erosion site along Onitsha – Owerri Expressway in Idemili South Local Government area of the state.
So far, the Onitsha – Owerri expressway lane has collapsed into the gully and has been blocked from being used while diversions have been provided for motorists on the Owerri – Onitsha lane of the highway.

The CLO, in the statement tagged “matters of urgent public importance”, signed by Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme Chairman and Comrade Chidi Mbah Secretary respectively, called on the both governments to urgently do the needful and restore people’s hope, faith and trust in government.
“It is unfortunate and despicable that many houses have been submerged and many are in great danger as the situation is escalating due to torrential downpour.”
“President Tinubu should despatch his Minister of Works, Engr. Davi Umahi, to pay on the spot assessment of the pathetic condition of the road and proffer immediate permanent solution.”
“Similarly, we call on Gov Charles Soludo to direct his Commissioners for Works and Environment and Anambra State Roads Maintenance Agency to pay urgent impromptu visits to decrepit Ideani-Nnobi Road in Idemili North LG near Nnobi High School section, that has cut the road into two to see the pitiable and pathetic condition of the road for immediate actions. If urgent and immediate actions are not taken by the government, movements of persons, goods and services along that axis will be truncated.”
“Gov.Soludo, should in his usual magnanimity, provides solution to the pitiable condition of the road by directing his Commissioner for Works to commence immediate rehabilitation of the road in other to ameliorate devastating and excruciating sufferings of the citizens, visitors and commuters.”
“We reiterates our earlier appeal to his Excellency to counsel his political appointees, revenue collectors, agents, task forces, ARTMA and other government funtionaries and Agencies to toe the path of civility, decorum, patriotism, selflessness and transparency in carrying out their duties.”
“We condemned the barbaric, insensate, inhuman and uncouncionable manner in which some revenue agents maltreat citizens, commercial vehicle drivers, visitors and commuters in their revenue collections, this has portrayed our state, the light of the nation, in bad light.”
