An Evening With Chief George Muoghalu
MAZI EJIMOFOR OPARA

It was a quite but revealing evening at the Uruagu, Nnewi country-home of Chief George Muoghalu (Ohamadike). The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Auditor engaged the APC media community in a no holds barred interactive session. Issues around the Party, State and Nigerian polity dominated the over 2 hours parley.
As an individual, Chief Muoghalu has a rich grasp of political historicity, and finds a way to coherently convey same to his audience irrespective of class or intellectual gradients.
The interaction with Chief George Muoghalu can be clearly summarised in the following 12 quick quotes below;
➖ “The current State of the Anambra APC is NOT Pleasant. We cannot pretend about this fact for too long. If we must make meaningful progress as a party, we must be ready to sacrifice so much of our personal ambitions and glory for the greater good of our collective interest”
➖”I am an incurable optimist.”
➖ “Service is my guiding philosophy. I want to be remembered by history for the role I played in shaping humanity – helping them optimize their full potentials. I will not die unsung.”
➖ “I want to have an APC Governor in Awka by 2021.”
➖”Sectarian Dichotomy in Anambra politics is very unfortunate. What the progenitors of this evil trend forgot to tell our people is that Poverty has no religion.”
➖ “Ndi Igbo must recognize that as we match towards 2023, the Igbo Presidency is not an Ozo title. Power is not given. At best, it is negotiated; we must develop an AGENDA to get power.”
➖ “When people ask me if I would contest the 2021 Guber elections, my quick response to them is that 2years is a life time. Unless they tell me they are assured of tomorrow, then I can respond in definite terms.”
➖ “I am not in the class of Leaders who only get close to the people during elections. As a personal principle, I return all missed calls and respond to all messages that hit my phone. No one has ever filled a visitor’s form to see me in my over 20 years in public service”
➖ “I do not subscribe to the idea of having Acting Leaders in running the affairs of Party. However, if we must correct this, it must be within the precincts of the constitution of our Political Party.”
➖ “It is time to have comprehensive real time figures of our Party membership composition in the State. We cannot be having over 200,000 registered party members, yet fail to record 25% of total votes cast.”
➖”It is true the APC doesn’t enjoy a lot of goodwill in the southeast, but we must not deter in marketing the image of the party, we should remind our people of the various projects going on in the Southeast, especially in Anambra which has been one of the first state in enjoying lots of FG social scheme programs ”
➖” The Media plays a very pivotal role in assisting the party pass its message to the grassroots, i must say, that, special attention needs to given to the Media Community of the Party.”
The APC Media Community expresses deep satisfaction in the warm reception accorded them by Chief George Muoghalu. The journey to salvage our great party has begun in earnest. We are set to help rewrite the negative narratives against our Party in the State in spite of the many goods we enjoy as dividends from the APC led Federal Government.
