Ex-Mandator, Victor Essiet Loses N70m To Robbers

Popular reggae music star, Victor Essiet, a half of the defunct duo band, The Mandators has reportedly lost valuables worth a whopping sum of N70 million to burglars who came to his Coker Estate, Shasha, Lagos home and carted away valuable items worth the amount in Shasha area of Lagos.
The Police at Area M Command, Idimu, who have since commenced investigation into the crime, have arrested three suspects, Opeyemi and Adewunmi, sons of Essiet’s landlord and their friend identified as Rufai  in connection with the robbery.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that during the investigation, the suspects confessed they entered Essiet’s flat apartment through their mom’s bedroom ceiling and stole those items when Essiet had traveled outside the country.
Among the items stolen include computers, phones, necklace, gold accessories, disk drive, videos and DVD for a DStv franchise and many others valuable items.
The suspects also confessed to have sold those items at give away price because they did not knew their values and could not retrieved them from the buyers again.
Essiet, who was devastated by the robbery incident, said he traveled abroad on several occasions and shoot videos for DStv and on his recent travel and came back, he discovered those items have been stolen.
He said through a tip off, the police narrowed their investigation to the suspects who then confessed and explained how they gained access to his apartment.
The suspects were brought to Ejigbo Magistrate’s court on Wednesday to be arraigned only to claim that they were under aged who are below 18 years. However, P.M.EXPRESS findings revealed that the suspects are above 20 years and have planned to declare that they are underage to escape justice.
However, the presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola directed that since the suspects insisted that they were underage, he directed and referred them to a juvenile court for arraignment and prosecution on Thursday.
