Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Domestic matters and social events, Dr. Waripamo-owei Dudafa, has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joins the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Dr. Dudafa, a former member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, made the announcement in a statement dated October 16, 2025, and address to the Chairman, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Southern Opokuma/Ayibabiri Ward 8 in Kolokuma Opukuma local government area of the state.

Dr. Dudafa, in the letter of resignation, said the decision to quit PDP was due to the prolonged and unresolved disputes, particularly, at the national level, which he said have significantly impeded the party’s ability to move forward, and also created an environment of conflict that he believe is no longer conducive to advancing the shared values and objectives the party members hold dearly.

He also stated that his decision to dump the PDP followed a period of deep reflection and consultation with his political associates, supporters, and family members.

“Throughout my time with the party, I have been deeply committed to our shared values and goals, and it has been an honour to work with so many dedicated individuals”

It is with a heavy heart that | tender my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately. Throughout my time with the party, I have been deeply committed to our shared values and goals, and it has been an honor to work with so many dedicated individuals. However, the prolonged and unresolved disputes, particularly at the national level, have significantly impeded our ability to move forward and have created an environment of conflict that | believe is no longer conducive to advancing the shared values and objectives we hold dear.

“While this decision is difficult, | remain committed to serving the best interests of our people, motivated by my dedication to their welfare and progress. After careful reflection and consideration, | have decided to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), a platform | believe offers renewed hope, unity, and a stronger foundation to address the challenges facing our dear state. I look forward to working alongside new colleagues who share this vision.

“I remain grateful for the relationships and experiences I have gained during my time with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and I wish the party well in overcoming its current challenges.
