They are supposed to be the custodians of security, giving the residents motives to stay a peaceable existence in the society, however what men of the Nigeria Police have become lately, specifically inside Agege, Abule Egba axis of Lagos state, has given the Force a awful title that residents now seem to look elsewhere for the safety of their life and properties.

It all occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 15 April 2023. The police were said to be on an operation to raid hideout of the criminals on Musili Street, Oko Oba, Agege, however it ended up being an operation that terminate the life of a young man, James Olakunle, 30, who was allegedly murdered in cold blood with the aid of the men of the Nigeria Police.

Residents who spoke on condition of anonymity to P.M. EXPRESS due to the fact of worry of victimisation, disclosed that it was pure lie that the raid carried out by using the policemen on that Saturday morning was to fish out criminals.

“The Nigeria Police are full of liars and deceit, especially when they prefer to cowl up the atrocities dedicated towards the people. Our neighborhood has never been a hideout for criminals specifically Musili Street,” one of the residents said.

Another source, a landlord inside the neighborhood was disappointed, as he accused the police of complicity in the death of Olakunle.

“What the Police did was an extra judicial killing that must not be covered up. The young lad was innocent. It was a death that supposed not to happen,” he said.

P.M. EXPRESS’ investigation, however, revealed that five policemen got here to Musili Street on an unnumbered car, like a commando style, they invaded the residence the place this man was once living, without any search warrant or any invitation, they dragged Olakunle outdoor and whisked him away.

“Unfortunately, the lifeless body of the young man was discovered the following day (Sunday) in a canal inside the community. Some parts of his body have been dismembered by the assailants making the homicide seemed like a ritual killing.

Further investigation revealed that the police may be working on a tipped off from one of political figures residing inside the neighborhood who had viewed the late Olakunle as a threat.

One of the residents confided in P.M. EXPRESS that the demise of this younger man ought to be a political stimulated killing aided by using the Police.

Speaking further, the resident said: “You as a reporter is very acquainted with what is going on in this area. Your father and household once stay very close to us right here and you would know what I am saying that politicians had fingers in the demise of this man with the useful resource from the police.

“How will you agree that the police got here to raid a hideout on Musili Street, and they whisked away solely one man who was later discovered dead. This doesn’t add up at all.

“This politician I was referring to came to this area few weeks ago to threatened that he would deal with Olakunle that he was meddling in a political affair that he was too small to handle. He said Olakunle wanted to be eaten in the same political pot with him.

“Few days later, some policemen got here for Olakunle on the pretense that they had been right here to raid a crook hideout, hours later, this young man was discovered dead. Can’t you see cover-up and complicity,” the resident said.

Meanwhile, effort to get reaction from the Divisional Police Station within the area proved abortive, as this reporter was told point blank by the police that P.M. EXPRESS should back off from writing any story from the incident, as it was still under investigation.

“You want to be wasted as Olakunle lost his life? Don’t write anything that would put you in trouble. A word is enough for the wise,” one of the policemen at the station threatened.
