Eyitope Kola-Oyeneyin Quits MTN Nigeria Board After NIPC Appointment

Posted on August 31, 2026

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has announced the resignation of Eyitope Kola-Oyeneyin from its Board of Directors, effective August 31, 2026.

The notice was contained in a regulatory filing submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Limited, NGX, on Friday and signed by the Company Secretary, Uto Ukpanah.

“MTN Nigeria Communications PLC hereby notifies the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public that Mrs. Eyitope Kola-Oyeneyin, Independent Non-Executive Director, will exit the Board effective 31 August 2026,” the filing stated.

The company thanked Mrs. Kola-Oyeneyin for her contributions during her tenure and wished her well in her future endeavours.

The resignation comes weeks after President Bola Tinubu appointed Kola-Oyeneyin as Chairperson of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, NIPC.

She was appointed in July alongside Muhammad Hadi Mutallab, who was named Chairperson of the Nigerian Export Processing Zones Authority, NEPZA.

The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment said the appointments were aimed at strengthening governance and institutional oversight at the agencies.

The ministry described the appointments as non-political and said they were intended to support accountability and the implementation of the agencies’ mandates.

Kola-Oyeneyin joined the MTN Nigeria board as an Independent Non-Executive Director in January 2025.

She has more than 25 years of experience in banking, management consulting, digital transformation and public policy.

She is the Managing Partner of Augmentum Advisory, where she advises businesses and institutions on transformation, policy and growth.

Her exit comes as MTN Nigeria reported strong half-year results. For the first half of 2026, the company recorded N1.09 trillion in profit before tax, representing a 75.4% increase from the same period in 2025.

Revenue for the period stood at N2.99 trillion, a 25.9% year-on-year increase.
