It was an atmosphere of expression of love as well as nostalgia as Eze Chika Nwokedi and his Wife, Ugoeze Pastor Tessy Nwokedi, celebrated their 24th marriage anniversary in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the celebration took place at the Eze Nwokedi’s palace in Ijegun area of Lagos.
It was well attended by friends, relations  and wellwishers including the women’s wing of Fire Grace and Mercy Restoration Ministry founded by Ugoeze Nwokedi.
Also in attendance was the Chairman of the Igbo Speaking Community of Ikotun-Igando and Youth Leader of Igbo National Stakeholders of Lagos, Chief Okechukwu Izuegbunam.
The wife, Dr Tessy Chika Nwokedi, while looking back over the years of her marriage, she stated: “I took the right decision to get married to Eze Chika Nwokedi”.
She explained that marriage is a union perceived to be sweet and perfect despite its challenging situations, yet it is essential for couples to imbibe positive thoughts and actions for a happy and fulfilling married life.
“Marriage is a union where your expectations might not be met, but it is important that a couple manage their affairs soothingly.”
“Wedding anniversaries are times to be grateful to God for keeping the marriage together. Moreover, one of the key things in marriage is communication, even when couples don’t feel like talking.”
“Do not forget to implore endurance, for marriage is the coming together of two strangers who must learn to love and show respect for each other.”
“As an ordained servant of God, I have always reminded God through my marital crisis that I must not face the agony of being a divorcee. For me, God has always been at the centre of my 24-year old union, ensuring that we seek His face in all our situations.”
“For every woman, the war room is necessary to observe specific prayers, especially during the trying times in the marriage; every woman should learn to ask for God’s intervention and direction when the going gets tough.”
“Proverbs 18:22 says, ‘He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the LORD.’” Therefore, learn to forgive your husband even before he offends you; this action builds inner peace for every virtuous woman, for “to err is human, and to forgive is divine.”
“To the young couples, marriage is not a simple affair, and it requires patience and a willingness to be foolish. Two wise men cannot be in the same boat, like two pilots cannot pilot a plane at the same time. Sometimes, both partners become foolish, but they must let go of everything for the marriage to work. Balancing these aspects is crucial, and it is up to God to guide the couple.”
In praise of her husband, Eze Chika Nwokedi, she said, “Nothing is perfect, but we thank God for making us stronger; thank you for being my ROCK. I can boldly affirm I’ve made the right choice for a husband, and we have forever to go”.
The Chairman of the Obi Chukwu Royal Council of Igando-Egan, Chief Izuegbunam, praised the couple and stated that their marriage is a testament to their commitment, attributing their success to God’s grace.
Dr Okechukwu Izuegbunam further expressed a heartfelt wish for the couple to continue on their path in service to humanity as role model for others.
The highlights of the event included the cutting of the anniversary cake and prizes given to couples who have spent over 25 years in marriage with their spouse; the gift items were food stuff, printed materials and other gifts.
Invited guests who graced the occasion, especially couples, expressed admiration with an outpouring of wishes for the celebrating couple.
A couple from Edo State, Mr. Jerry and Mrs. Glory, congratulated Eze Chika Nwokedi and Pst Tessy Chika Nwokedi on their 24th wedding anniversary and commended Eze Chika for his charitable prowess towards others while urging him to progress further in his act of magnanimity.
Mrs. Ada Odili used the occasion to emphasise the importance of unity and peace for every marriage to succeed.  She wished the couple a happy 24th year in marriage, good luck and wisdom.
Chief Mrs. Okorie shared her unique take on marriage, blending spiritual, educational, and journey-like analogies. She emphasised marriage as a sacred bond rooted in spirituality, comparing its journey to lifelong education filled with various experiences. According to her, endurance is key, suggesting that marriage requires patience and resilience to navigate its challenges.
Eze Chika Nwokedi, during the anniversary, revealed that despite being the least financially enhanced among his siblings, he has developed a generous spirit, finding joy in giving to others even when it might be a stretch of an attempt.
He explained that his late father  assigned the mantle of leadership to him at an early stage in life, which must not be contested by his siblings; hence, the greatness in him to do charity at every given time, whether he’s financially buoyant at that specified time or not.
This, he claims, has led him to be crowned with the title ‘Okpoko 1’ of Obodoukwu and king of Ijegemo and Ijedodo kingdoms in Lagos State.
His display of magnanimity was also witnessed at his marriage anniversary with his wife, where he gave out over 15 medium-sized bags of rice, printed materials (Ankara) and other items. He rewarded couples who’ve made it to 20 years or more of marriage.
The couple, who got married in 2001, is blessed with children.
