Renowned Igbo leader and Ezendigbo of Alimosho Local Government Area, Eze Dr. Lawrence Nnamdi Eze, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his mother, Chief Mrs. Gladys Eze, who passed away at the age of 84.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the sad development was confirmed by Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze at his palace in Ikotun area of Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, where he received sympathizers and members of the Igbo community.

According to the family, the late Chief Mrs. Gladys Eze passed on peacefully after a brief illness associated with old age. She was said to have been strong and active until her final days, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She was described as a devout Christian, community mother, and pillar of support to her family. The late Gladys Eze was widely respected for her wisdom, humility, and dedication to family values. Many who knew her spoke highly of her as a woman of peace who often settled disputes among relatives and neighbours.

She was a strong influence behind her son’s rise in community leadership. Eze Dr. Lawrence Nnamdi Eze often credited his mother for instilling in him the virtues of service, courage, and love for Ndigbo, which shaped his role as Ezendigbo in Alimosho.

The family has stated that burial arrangements will be announced in due course. Consultations are ongoing with kinsmen, the church, and traditional institutions to accord her a befitting burial that reflects her status as the mother of an Ezendigbo.
