Fake Lagos Govt Safety Commission Officer Docked For Issuing Building Approval To Land Owners

A 52-year old fake Safety Commission officer, Alade Obasoye, has been arrested for allegedly issuing building approval permits to land owners without Lagos State Government’s approval.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Obasoye, was apprehended in Ijegun area with Safety Commission uniforms and has allegedly obtaining undisclosed amounts of money and had issued building approval permits and directed the builders to continue building their houses in the area.
He was alleged to have done so between February and March, 2024, before he ran out of luck and he was arrested. He was detained at Isheri Oshun Police Division for interrogation in order to ascertain who authorized him to be giving approval permits to builders in the area.
During interrogation, the Police discovered that he was fake and was not even employed by the Lagos State Safety Commission as he had claimed.
The Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and impersonation by allegedly issuing fake documents and permits to builders, which will endanger the lives of the dwellers in the future.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while their addresses will have to be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 10th April, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail cconditions.
