The National President of Bash Ali Fans Club of Nigeria (BAFCON), Mr.Dickson Ayorinde Oshin, has expressed his appreciation to a good number of Nigerians who made the inauguration of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Bash Ali Guinness World Record Boxing Championship in Abuja last Tuesday a reality.

The inauguration of the LOC signalled the beginning of activities and preparation for the organisation of the first of its kind Guinness World Record Boxing event in Nigeria where World Boxing Federation (WBF) cruiserweight champion, Nigerian Bashiru Lawrence Ali, OON will be fighting to become the oldest man to step into a boxing ring at 63 and eventually becomes the oldest man on earth to win a world title fight in this generation.

Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung inaugurated the LOC at the Ministry’s Conference Room with the mandate that all hands must be on deck for the actualisation of the fight in the next 90 days.

Oshin who led other members of the fans club to the inauguration told P.M. EXPRESS that the National Executive and all members of BAFCON spread across the country were indeed grateful to the Sports Minister who made the inauguration possible, while also extending the appreciation to members of the LOC who attended the ceremony among whom were the right activist lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome and Chief Kenny Martins.

“We want to particularly thank our dear President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, and the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo for their support for believing in Bash Ali’s Project. This was a great encouragement and we are most grateful,” Oshin said.

The President General noted that all the support for Bash Ali won’t be in vain as the country stands to gain a lot from the organisation of the fight in Nigeria.

“The economic gains cannot be over-emphasised. As the Sports Minister rightly said during the inauguration, this fight will be used to rebrand Nigeria and boost sports business in the country. The multiplier effects of the building of sports academies in the geo-political zones of the country will no doubt add values to sports development in Nigeria. Bash Ali’s fight will bring clean money into our economy.

“We thank God for having somebody like Bash Ali, who at 63 years, want to step into the ring to write his name and that of his fatherland in the Guinness Book of World Record. This has never happened in Africa. We can only do this country well by supporting this great dream. All members of the LOC, the Federal Government, state governments and private sector should give their supports,” the President General of BAFCON said,
