A 30-year old fashion designer, Idris Adams, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 2-year old baby by penetration.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 26th February, 2024, at their residence, where the suspect reportedly lured the victim to his apartment and engaged her in the dastardly act.
According to the Police, the suspect lured the victim, engaged her in the act and in the process injured her private part. The matter was reported to the Police while the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, where doctors confirmed that she was defiled.
The suspect was thereafter charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged and ordered to be remanded in custody after the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
Supol Akeem Raji had earlier informed the Court that the incident happened and the victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical examination, which confirmed the alleged defilement.
The alleged offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, did not take Adams plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
Hence, the Court ordered his remand in in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, pending the outcome of DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 28th March, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
