FCE (Technical), Umunze Celebrates Chief Ebuka Onunkwo’s Scholarship Gesture

The Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, rolled out the red carpet on Wednesday, 26th March, 2025, to formally welcome seven students who recently received scholarships from Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, the CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Industries Ltd. 

The scholarship initiative, aimed at supporting underprivileged youths from Anambra State, has been hailed as a game-changer by the College Management, spotlighting Chief Onunkwo’s dedication to education and community upliftment.

In a heartfelt address during the reception, the College Provost, Prof. T.O. Okoli, showered praise on Chief Onunkwo for his generosity, describing the scholarship as a vital lifeline for students striving to overcome financial barriers.

“This is more than just financial aid—it’s a powerful statement of belief in our youths and their potential to shape the future,” she said.
Prof. Okoli also commended the beneficiaries for their hard work, noting that they earned the scholarship through a competitive interview proc
ess organized by the benefactor.

The lucky recipients include Okonkwo Onyeka Jude (Year 3, Computer Education),
Ezeuchegbu Gonna A. (Year 3, EMP),
John Success Ebube (Year 3, EMP),
Egwutuba Esther O. (Year 2, Biology Education),
Ohaemesi Chidiogo E. (Year 2, Mathematics Department),
Emmanuel Juliet O. (Year 2, Chemistry Education), and Okoli Mercy Chiamaka (Year 2, NG/Political Science).
The Provost urged them to seize this opportunity and strive for excellence, setting an example for their peers.

Dr. Dave Okoli, the Dean of Student Affairs, who led the beneficiaries to the meeting, echoed the Provost’s gratitude, emphasizing that Chief Onunkwo’s investment is a stepping stone to a brighter future for these students. The reception was attended by top college officials, including Deputy Provost Dr. T.A.K. Nzeribe, Registrar Dr. (Mrs) B.C. Nkah, Bursar Comrade Ethelberth Echedo, and College Librarian Dr. A.S. Agbada, all of whom joined in celebrating the milestone.

Chief Dr Ebuka Onunkwo’s scholarship program has been widely praised as a reflection of his commitment to nurturing Anambra’s next generation of leaders. The Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, expressed optimism that this initiative will inspire further partnerships with philanthropists and corporate bodies to bolster educational growth in the region.
