The residents of Igando, Ikotun and its environs are now living in great fear following the recent incessant attacks by armed robbers operating in the area causing serious panic and violence in Lagos State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that few days after three victims including the NYSC discharged graduate, Reuben Peter Njoku, were shot dead and three others  injured in Igando, another victim has been killed by armed robbers.

The latest victim is a yet to be identified tricycle operator, who was shot at Mercy Avenue, off Governor’s Road in Ikotun area yesterday morning. They also stole his tricycle and escaped.

According to the residents, the three members of the armed robbery gang hired the victim for a drop at around 6am and when they got to the street, they shot him dead, dropped his corpse on the road and escaped with his tricycle to an unknown destination.

The residents are worried because of the recent armed robbers attacks in the area as the robbers have employed different patterns for their operations in order to beat the Police in charge of the area.

In the case of Igando robbery operation, the daredevil armed robbers went on rampage, killing three victims on the spot and injuring three others now lying critically ill at an undisclosed hospital while they robbed passersby of their valuables and escaped with their vehicle.

According to an eyewitness, the bandits parked their vehicle and started  shooting sporadically while robbing passersby and eventually killed the late Njoku and two others on the spot.

It appears that the Police in the area are helpless in combating the menace of robbers because of the different tactics the robbers have applied during their operations. Another factor, according to the residents, is the proximity between between Governor’s Road and Igando, which makes it an easy escape route for robbers after their operations which needs the attention of the Police to find out workable solutions to combat the wave of robbers terrorizing the area in the State.
