The Federal Government’s campaign to transition Nigeria’s transport system from fossil fuel dependence to autogas and electric vehicles is gaining momentum, with private sector players like Cardinal Automobile Drive (CAD) Moto Limited joining the fray.

CAD Moto, an indigenous firm with ties to China, has introduced electric-powered tricycles (Keke Marwa) and golf carts to the Nigerian market.

CAD Moto’s Managing Director, TonyCardinal Chigozie Chibuzor, believes electric vehicles represent the future of the automobile industry. The company’s product line includes utility vehicles (UTV), all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and quad bikes designed for difficult terrains. Chibuzor envisions partnering with the government to empower youth with electric keke and other initiatives.

Chibuzor acknowledges the challenges of adopting electric vehicles in Nigeria, particularly the lack of charging infrastructure. However, CAD Moto’s electric keke comes equipped with solar panels to mitigate this issue. The company’s long-term goal is to assemble vehicles locally, becoming a leading manufacturer in Nigeria.

KEY FEATURES OF CAD MOTO’S ELECTRIC TRICYCLES
– _LITHIUM BATTERY_: Lasts 10 hours at 60 km/h after full charge.
– _SOLAR PANEL_: Automatically charges battery with sunlight.
– _DIGITAL DASHBOARD_: Enhances user experience.
– _RUGGED TERRAIN FRIENDLY_: Suitable for various environments.

As Nigeria transitions to cleaner energy, CAD Moto’s innovative approach is poised to transform the transportation industry. With the government’s support, electric vehicles may become increasingly popular, reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuels.
